Planting with purpose

We’ve been carefully researching a variety of different plants that we’d like grow in the E12 Garden. It’s a long list but there’s lots to take into consideration.

Ideally we’d like the garden to be usable and look good all year around. This means planning for plants that flower in different seasons, and ensuring some sturdy Evergreens.

Our new raised planters will be free of the contaminated soil that currently resides in the ground. The garden used to be on the site of an old garage. Following a visit from a contamination expert, we discovered a few nasties that were best left alone. The new planters will ensure it’s completely safe for edible plants and spices. We’d love your feedback around what spices you regularly use in cooking so we can grow it - take part in our short survey!

Impact is another important consideration. We can’t wait to officially reopen the gates and give that “wow” moment. That said, as a community garden, there’s no greater satisfaction than planting together and watching it grow over time. There will be plenty of empty beds, pots and spots dotted around the garden for visitors to come and plant for themselves, for everyone to enjoy.

Check out our wish list below. What would you like to see? Take part in the survey.
