Ways you can enjoy the garden

  • Relaxing

If you live or work nearby, the garden is a tranquil and calm space where you can simply come to escape and relax. Bring your lunch, bring a book and find a comfortable spot to enjoy nature. There are plenty of benches and in the summer, the sofa will be uncovered.

  • Parents group

Often, a parent and toddler group meet up in the garden for play and socialising. There’s some activities in the cupboard to keep the little ones occupied, if exploring the plants and insects isn’t enough.

  • Weeding

We always appreciate the extra hands to keep our garden looking great. Weeding can be done at any time and it gives you a great sense of satisfaction and grounding. There’s some gloves in the greenhouse to avoid any stingers. weeds can go straight in the compost bin.

  • Composting

There are 3 compost bins located at the rear of the garden where we collect a mix of green and brown materials, such as grass clippings, leaves, vegetable peelings, and cardboard. 9-12 months later, volia! We have nutrient rich fertiliser for our plants. You’re welcome to contribute to the process.

  • Greenhouse & Seeding

The Greenhouse takes pride of place in our garden! If you want to experiment with seedlings, cuttings, growing some tomatoes or chillies from seeds, then the green house is the place to start. You’ll find a selection of pots and gloves in the greenhouse, and we always welcome replenishments to our supplies.

  • Planting

Our larger planters are quite full, but you’re welcome to contribute plants that will help the garden to thrive. You’ll find a planter map inside the garden which will provide a guide on the best spots for you to plant in. Or simply help us maintain what’s there - deadheading, cutting back, pruning is encouraged.

  • Open days & Events

From time to time we will run special events in the garden, and you’re welcome to run your own too. From seedling workshops, to yoga, to bulb planting, to pumpkin carving, or coffee mornings. Keep an eye on the events page and social channels!

  • Fruit & Vegetables

We’ve had some great success with a variety of fruits and vegetables in the garden - giant aubergines, corgettes and pears. As as community garden, you are welcome to sample anything that grows, but please leave some for others to enjoy, or perhaps plant something new.

  • Volunteering

We’d love to hear from you if you have some free time and a particular interest in contributing to the success of the garden. Perhaps you’d like a role of ‘lead gardener’ to help design the future of our space, or would be happy to coordinate upkeep or activities. Get in touch!
