Wood you believe it

We had a mammoth delivery of wood this week which will be used for all of the new planters in the garden.

The wood itself is untreated Larch/Douglas Fir which is extremely hardy and naturally preserves itself with its own resin. A big shout out to our volunteers who coordinated the delivery. Unable to fit through the gate, each piece of wood was individually hand lifted in the garden. Team work makes dream work!

Saturday was therefore very exciting as it meant we could set to work on building the new planters. A carefully measured and detailed build plan optimised the wood that we had to minimise cuts and minimise waste. The sun was out so we had plenty of hands on deck to work on the first bed - an epic ā€˜Cā€™ shaped planter. Check out the photos and time lapse.

With lots of new faces popping their heads in, we created a new temporary seating space for curious visitors who are keen to see the progress first hand.

The afternoon of hard graft finished with a well earned drink at the Golden Fleece.

see you next time!
